Villa Oliva Buonvisi

One of the most elegant historic villas in the Lucca area.
A timeless residence in the heart of Tuscany

Villa Oliva
Buonvisi

Nestled in the tranquility of San Pancrazio, on the slopes of the Pizzorne Plateau and just six kilometers from the historic walls of Lucca, Villa Oliva Buonvisi is one of the most charming noble residences in Tuscany.

The villa dates back to the late 15th and early 16th centuries, when the Buonvisi family commissioned Matteo Civitali—an eminent sculptor and architect trained in Florence under the influence of Lorenzo de’ Medici—to design it. A masterpiece of Lucca Mannerism, the villa is distinguished by its two-storey open loggia, featuring monolithic columns carved from Matraia stone.

Over the centuries, the property passed through several distinguished families until it came into the hands of the Oliva family, who oversaw its extensive restoration after the damage sustained during World War II. Today, Villa Oliva Buonvisi is experiencing a new era of splendour, opening its doors to guests and celebrations while honouring its extraordinary history.
